Project SAVE+

SUSTAINABLE ACTIONS for VIABLE ENVIROPRENEURSHIP PLUS

Project SAVE+ aims to improve the lives of the marginalized farmers and, at the same time, promote environmental awareness and proction.Hence, UL-SIFE worked on two strategies namely eliminating farm-generated wastes, oyster shells and plastic bottles accumulation and eradication of unhealthy fishing practices.

Toward these ends, UL introduced a two-pronged strategy of conversion of farm-generated by-products and recyclable materials into organic compost and construction materials while intensifying campaign against unethical farming to address environmental protection concern and fishing practices to support national and local government's thrust.

UL-SIFE encouraged every household to produce organic fertilizers to meet the demand for which in the market. Further, vermi-composting was introduced by the Team to increase production of fertilizers out of household and farm by-products.

Further, consistent with the concept of recycling, the UL-SIFE launched the production of hollow blocks from oyster shells and plastic bottles.

This project, in partnership with the City Government, DENR and other agencies, also focuses on providing alternative livelihood opportunities to around 800 fisherfolks and their families hardly hit by the LGU's selective ban on fish cage and operation.
